Goo goo gah gah get down nom town! This place is great and you’d never be able to tell from the outside. McBob’s has a quaint interior with a nice patio in the back. If you are looking for a great brunch but don’t want to deal with the downtown jimmy jam, then head on over here. They have greeeaattt bloody mary’s with plentiful and o-so-spicy garnish. Yum. Annnndd you get your choice of chaser. Nice.
Food is also great. I’ve been here twice and ordered the black and bleu burger which was ooey gooey, juicy and juuuusst right. The second time I came to order the reuben, but was too early for the lunch menu. Bummer. I did order off the brunch menu and got the eggs, potatoes and some corned beef goodness. I definitely will be back to get the reuben.
The service was phenomenal – super personable, funny and helpful.
Overall, I loved it! It’s a total west side gem. What are you doing still reading this? Go there!
Best breakfast I’ve had (in a restaurant) in a LONG time! My boyfriend and I went here on a Monday, after hearing a radio ad that they offer breakfast half-off on Mondays.
We started with screwdrivers – it put me in a wonderful mood and is good bang for your buck ($4.25 for a tall). I ordered the McGinnity, with 3 scrambled eggs over a bed of corned beef hash, hashbrowns, and an English muffin. It was SO GOOD! These reviews are correct – McBob’s has amazing corned beef!!! And the portions are quite large; I was only able to eat half my plate (although I wanted it all in my tummy!). My boyfriend ordered the Mc Benedict, so I was able to try the corned beef sans hash. It’s seriously melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
I loved all the décor and cozy feel to this establishment. With only a few others in the bar/restaurant, it turned out to be a very nice and relaxing dining experience. Our server was kind and attentive, not overbearing at all.
McBob’s is awesome, and I can’t believe it took me so many years to finally go here. I’m interested to see what an evening crowd is like, as I have a feeling this place could be very fun. I will definitley be going back again and again in the future!
First time visitor tonight and this will become a regular spot for us, for sure. Best corned beef I’ve ever had – it’s insane. I got the reuben and appreciated the no thousand island – I’m not a fan of the sweet sauce on a reuben, especially since it was replaced by a horshradish-mustard sauce. I’m sure any of the corned beef sandwiches/dinners are all outstanding.
Husband got the grouper and walleye – both excellent. I love that they have grouper – it’s our favorite fish and it was a favorite. Not a huge fan of the coleslaw, but after the fresh bread and potato pancakes (which you just have to get with the fish), he didn’t really care.
The clam chowder, which is only served on Fridays, had huge yummy clams and a thick, flavorful broth.
We loved the atmosphere. It’s not as divey as it looks on the outside and everyone looks like they’re having a good time. 2 dinners, 1 beer, 2 extra sides = $27…great deal too.
Don’t be put-off by their iffy location (the Third District police station is directly across the street, so safety isn’t an issue), because their fish fry is one of the best in the Milwaukee area! Inside is cleaner and more diner-friendly than you’d expect from the outside appearance, and the wait staff is about as attentive as you’d expect at a bar/restaurant combo. As the name suggests, the theme of the bar is Irish, with standard Irish decor lining the walls (as well as a few flat screen TVs)
If fish isn’t your thing, go for the Rueben sandwich. The corned beef literally melts in your mouth.

I tried the Reuben after always going to McBob’s for the fish fry. The grouper is one of the best fish fries in Milwaukee. McBob’s hand cuts the corned beef and you can taste the flavor in every bite. Parking on the side streets is always available. Friday nights can be busy. Summer times are less busy and they also have a patio.
If you want great Milwaukee pub grub, this is the place. The fish fry is wonderful. Every bite reminds me of why I love this town. The McBob’s Reuben has to be one of the best in Milwaukee. One trivia note – the McBob’s kitchen is one of the cleanest in the city, according to the Health Department. So much so that students from the Mt Mary College’s Dietetics Program regularly tour the place. If you eat at McBob’s you will get fat, but you won’t get sick.
